Tide's Up

Big moons, high tides, low tides.... the earth is still doing its thing.

Blossoms

The days are getting longer, and although I am enjoying the skiing we've had lately, I'm still thinking spring...

... I've even rearranged the furniture (it's a seasonal thing with me) ('It's not spring yet, Hurve', says Hiin)...

... and I'm dreaming about the apple tree in bloom.
Blossoms for your walls, new in the studio for this spring!

Bat Box!

Call Tony @ 637-7128 for a Bat Box... note the 'ladder' which makes it easier for the bats to climb into their 'eaves' to hide away during the day. I will install this on a fairly sunny wall of the house
-- but not too sunny, the bats would cook-- just enough to keep them warm. At night, they will eat all the nasty bugs that bite me, and all will be well. There was also a selection of Merganser Boxes, Owl Boxes, Marten Boxes, etc... get yer own box made!

White is a Colour

There's a whole lot of shovelling to do outisde today... in the meantime, however, white is a colour that I have seen elsewhere.

Repainting...

I had this great idea... after a few years of enjoying the warmth and wood grain that I had chosen for the walls of my studio, I finally gave in with the realisation that white walls would be brighter AND would show off the glass better...

... so here it goes... not feeling too sure about this at all... and when everything was white, I found it too stark... so, of course, I added a bit of colour...

Normally, I would paint things with a good solid 3-8 coats (whatever it needs), but when I almost-dry-brushed the trim with the colour just once...

... I found I really like the look of the spotty paint. Reminds me of the texture of the wood that I otherwise can't see anymore. It is a lot brighter, I must say.

It's a Dog's Life... Really

Our little buddy works very hard at sneaking onto the couch undetected...

Day...

...after day...

...after day...

...after day...

...after day...

...after day...
In fact, he seems to spend as much time as possible making the couch surfing happen, that it's an absolute wonder how he manages to...

...find the time to eat the toes out of my socks...

...or to build himself a superman cape. He's some clever, I must say, not to mention diligent!

Thumb Out for a Ride to SinCity

If anyone out there is driving to St. John's from somewhere close to the Corner Brook area in the next 4-5 days or so, and you happen to have room for a box of glass work that could be dropped off at the Craft Council shop in the Devon House, please let me know (783-3505 or urve.manuel@gmail.com) .
Thanks!

So Far Away in Nova Scotia

First day setting things up at ACTS in Halifax... got met at the airport by Colette and Dave, brought to their LOVELY home, and then set-up at the World Trade Centre for the show... and I am thinking about my last evening's ski in the pink...

...with my wild and wooly armchair squirrel hunters... miss you Hiiner!

Halifax-Bound

I'm set to go to Halifax for ACTS again this year, to participate in the Gallery show. I have been quite busy working on new pieces, and this is one that I will be taking with me:
(I Heard You But I'm) Not Ready to Go, 2012
Pate de verre, antler

Buddy System

It's important to have a buddy in life... especially when the noisy dust-sucking closet monsters are out and about wrestling with your other buddies... Be careful out there!
