Lilies in the Rain

My garden has been a bit neglected lately, there's been so much activity going on around me, but it's never far from my thoughts! Each time I climb up or down the stairs, either to the car or to the beach, I always take a moment to look and to breathe in what the blooms offer; right now, my lilies are blooming, and their colours and scents fill the air. Along with the honeysuckle bushes and the wild roses, they make for a wonderful journey to and from our home!

The rolling thunder and the crashing rain we've had since last night, although somewhat inhibiting in terms of certain activities, are welcome for the flowers and the trees and the vegetable gardens everywhere!

East Meets West!!

Well, the EMW Expo here in Corner Brook is over, and I am looking forward to the same event that will be held in Mt. Pearl this coming weekend-- it will be interesting to see how people react to my work 'all the way over there'. The days were long but proved to be satisfying; I made a few sales, earned a few new little commissions, got a lot more exposure, and had the chance to try out my new product... necklaces and pendant; happily, they were well received! Sea turtles and little birdies...
New plate, Frenchman's Cove...

Crazy daisies, flowers....

...canoes and dragonflies...

New bowl, Blowmedown Dawn.

Saturday Morning Fish Part-1

The signs were promising for a great morning of fishing; the Blowmedowns were quiet, the fog was rolling gently down the inclines into the valleys, the wind was still...

... Haary and Hiin got the da Hurve on the go, and Toomas and Triina threw sticks for Shep on the beach...
Triina's first catch...

Toomas not too far behind with a little...
...cod of his own! What a fun morning; great company, great fishermen, great weather, great boat, and lots of interesting catches in between cod... a little mackerel lesson to boot!

Saturday Morning Fish

Although Triina was not the first to get a bite on her lure, she was the first to land a fish in the boat... (oh yes, looking a bit tired, late night at the East Meets West, and really early morning with the kids...!)...

...and a nice looking fish it was!

Meanwhile, Toomas was not too overjoyed to be the one who did not land the first fish (although he did have several first tugs on the line!).
But then , joy of joys, happy days were here again, and fish were had by all!
We caught all kinds of mackeral (they are beautiful!!), rock bass (too bony and small), baby cod (sorry!), and big rocks that were attached to kelp...! Fun morning! Hoping to do it again Sunday evening after the last day at the East Meets West Expo.

East Meets West Expo Preparation and Being There

First plate ever of Frenchman's Cove, getting ready for second firing...
...Two piping plovers, getting ready to be shaped into a plate and a bowl, respectively...

My studio is stripped bare... I'm looking at the shelves thinking that this is great, there is way more room to create for again... as long as everything sells!!

Happy customer with a brand new chain and dragonfly pendant (with irridescent wings, no less!). All day today, there was music, buskers, activites, food, and goings-on in general... we (Gill, Janice, Jamie-Lee, and myself) have a great set-up in our tent on West Street, and drawing positive comments all around. The 'Art in the Church' exhibition is also going well, with many people in attendance, and beautiful art work to view! CHECK IT OUT!!! This EXPO is running until Sunday evening-- Farmer's Market will also be on West Street on Saturady at teh usual time, I think... COME ON OUT!
My little buddy, waiting to get in... pretty darned upset not to have been allowed in for the East Meets West Day One Activities... Funny Guy.

Greetings!

Another beautiful day about to begin! I love coming up the steps to the red screen door because I pass many flowers on the way; these little purple ones seem to focus their 'eyes' right on whomsoever walks by, exuding cheery greetings and salutations! So hellooooo right back!

Production!

After swimming, hot chocolate and pizza, and in between The Dukes of Hazzard movie/not-making chocolate chip cookies/Hiin's world famous burgers, we spent some time in the studio. The kids drew their designs after studying books and photograph collections, then we talked about glass, and they got right on the program. Beautiful results!
