Beach Pit Fire

Getting caught up... a bit...LAST week, our sculpture class had a beach firing here in Gillams; it was perfect timing, as I had a LOT of wood material ripped out from the little house that needed to be burnt, and we have a perfect beach here, and it is beautiful here...

Mountain of combustibles...

... digging the pit...

...adding sawdust, then putting pots and sculptures in the pit, boys tearing around looking for seaweed to add as well for more 'effects' during the firing...

...GPS Steve lighting the fire...

... Jordan, causing laughter yet again... while Jackie fills the fire pit...

... multiple fires on the go-- the pit fire is waning, while several other tall fires are beginning. It's good to have half a dozen boys around when there is a mountain of burning to be done, it all happens so fast!

Relaxing by the smores and weenie roast fire. We also brought down a BBQ on the tailgate of the Duck, burgers, mmmmm, and Steve did up a huge pot of mussels... delish!

Discussing the merits of Coleman stoves.

Flames!

The Book of Fire... where apparently one can read one's destiny in its pages...

Troops.

The last thing to be sacrificed on the fire: boat burning... in celebration of a new season, best of luck for the year to come.

Last of the boat.

Pots emerging from the embers...

... some cracked a bit, some broke entirely, good process.

Steve brought his guitar, how great...

Happily tired boy.
